Yeah, half of your fantasy just won’t happen

For one, you can’t really develop nukes in secret. Nukes are hard to build, very hard. Then detonating one in a war is also a really bad idea because it’s basically the end of at least your country, maybe all countries

Yeah, Europe is under attack for sure, but it won’t be THAT easy

  • Yes and no

Call it a nanny state but companies have been abusing kids to help and back with social media which, IMHO is a much, MUCH bigger problem than porn. I’m all for a ban on social media for kids under 18 at least.

I fully agree that we need privacy and a system should be put in place that does t spy on the citizens bu at the same time we do need protections for the citizens

The entire “he who sacrifices privacy for security” is a bad faith argument. Tell that to a 70yo granny who just lost all of her life savings to scammers. Tell that to the 15 year old that just committed suicide due to some social media bullshit. Tell that to the countless teenagers wrestling with anxiety and can’t get themselves away from social media anymore because companies refined their algorithms so far that they’re addicting as fuck.

That is where governments are supposed to step in. Not everything should be legal or else we should also permit owning weapons grade plutonium. Yes, that is an extreme, but its to show that we need limits and the question is where

Yes, government can be abusive and very much on the wrong side, like with the marijuana prohibition that broke and ended countless lives. Now Europe wants to spy in all chats FFS.

Those are great examples.of bad government control but just because these bad examples exist doesn’t meant hat any government control is bad

I would favor an age verification system that is guaranteed anonymous. That shouldn’t be too hard to setup if the government gives out codes to the citizens, and they can give independent non profit foundations a list of the codes with only the birthdate. Citizen supplies the anonymous code to website, website requests age at foundation, that’s it.

Foundation can’t legally reveal to government (or anyone for that matter) what code visited what, and the foundation doesn’t know what code is what citizen

It’s just a random idea written on the toilet, I’m sure there are better algorithms out there to do this, but the point is that it can be done in a fair, dependable and anonymous way.

We need SOME control, no control just doesn’t work.

At least apply the controls to all the big players for starters

  • I just love how Linux is awesome and outperforms windows in just about any metric, and every update is basically making it faster, better, more secure, and more featureful.

I love how easy it has become to get it to run, even when confronting complicated problems

Meanwhile in the microsoft camp, its always been shit, severe known security bugs don’t get fixed because marketing goes before everything, even if it means that the US government gets hacked (but don’t worry, we pwomise that the CEO wiw now cawe about secuwity!) and apparently M$ literally only cares about shoving security averse AI down everyone’s throat with a used plunger.

Sure sure, the AI my install malware for you, but AI, man! It’s awesome even though you hate it, even though it’ll steal all your data and your first born back to Microsoft for processing. You MUST love it, resistance is futile!

And still people keep going on about how windows really is the best

Meanwhile, I try to type a document in Microsoft Word online, because unfortunately that’s is het we still use at work but it keeps randomly and quietly deleting text that I wrote 30 seconds prior. That high quality, of course, is all due to the AI vibe coding that is all the rage at Microsoft now.

To anyone who still needs to hear it: switch to Linux now, get rid of Microsoft nonsense. Linux is awesome, we have cookies

  • they would prefer not to do

First of all, says who? There are loads of sex workers who are content with their job

Second of all, isn’t that something you could say of any job? Do you think the McDonald’s burger flipper is content with their job? They actually are paid shit to do something they don’t want

What about porn? Should we forbid that too, then? Because no one making porn must want to do it, right?

Yeah, let’s keep sex work illegal, that way if a woman decides to get into that, she can’t go to the police when abused, she will need to do it in ways that are much more dangerous than needed, she won’t be able to say no, and we can improve and increase human trafficking… I mean, all great stuff, right?

Here is a kicker: people like sex. Bigger kicker: women like sex. OMG! I know! Who knew! I did, you didn’t!

If both parties consent, it is fine and should be perfectly legal.its not your job to tell other what they can and cannot do, or what they can and cannot like.
