9·11 days agoPlus it was guerrilla fighting by the Vietcong combined with an actual standing army decently supplied, well trained and hugely experienced in asymmetric warfare.
Plus Hồ Chí Minh was a clever strategist and leader, him pressing the Politburo to accept China’s help translated into 320k “volunteers”. Iirc he read T.E. Lawrence like it was the Bible.

ADHD memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•New way of saying "my brain wouldn't let me" just dropped!
44·28 days ago“I planned to have it for today but the Gods didn’t will it.”
Who am I to act against the will of the gods?
Alternatively:
“My hubris in meeting the deadline tempted the ire of the Fates.”
“I had it ready for today but the Trickster God, well, tricked me!”

23·1 month agoSo you are saying that memes are making the world a better place, right? … right?

Because the Rattlesnake had a long history as a political symbol for the unity of the thirteen colonies and was meant to serve as an example of the revolutionary ideals.
Gadsen himself was a staunch supporter of John Adams (though he was, paradoxically an enthusiastic eslavist) and he spent time in prison during the war as he couldn’t give his word to a “false system”.
Sadly, the right has been misappropriating revolutionary symbols and that’s what I meant as unfair.
