I don’t think you understand the situation we’re in.

Someone could literally release a photo of Trump having intercourse with french poodle. And he would not be impeached or removed from office.

It’s frustrating that anyone doesn’t realize this by now.

1. Trump is a vector for power. He is like Santa Claus. He goes around giving people wonderful gifts: a few billion here, a crucial bailout there, an ambassadorship, a pardon, or just license to enact fascism… He gives people things they want or in some cases desperately need.

2. Popular will only matters on election day, and even then only in a few specific places. Every other day, the only check on Trump’s power is people who rely on him for their power, and most of those people have no red line where something is too awful for them to tolerate in exchange for power.

The good news is that Trump isn’t invincible: his weakness is that his power and that of the many people who support him are susceptible to collapse of opposed by a mass movement demanding justice and social welfare broadly. But the Epstein thing is just for fun. It doesn’t actually matter.

Everyone already knows that he’s guilty.

He was already found guilty of raping E. Jean Caroll. He’s joked for years about how much he loves molesting teenage girls. He was famously caught on tape admitting that he absolutely loves sexually assaulting women.

And he was well known to be a close friend and sexpal of famed pervert Jeffrey Epstein! This was the thing he and Jeffrey Epstein were known for for years! There is no revelation, it’s just known facts!

The only reason this is news is because it pisses Trump off when people make fun of him for it. Other than that, these are all minute details on a story that we already know: Donald Trump is already a notorious child rapist! Both his friends and enemies know this! I’m sorry to point this out, but there is no point when he’s going to get caught and be held accountable for this, because he has already been caught for this.

You can’t even say he was caught. He literally built his whole public identity on doing these crimes and then bragging about them to Howard Stern and writing books about it.

I’ve been listening to the podcast Greatest Gen, where they’ve been doing a watch-through of Enterprise, and it’s fun to listen to. It sounds like a better show than the reputation gives it, but also really unbalanced in terms of cast attention.

Is that universal on Star Trek? I feel like TNG was overwhelmingly focused on Picard, Ricker, and Data,. Then Troi and Geordi were present by being associated to Riker and Data and each got like one or two episodes a season where they were the star. And Worf would get a few eps a season, but was usually around. It wasn’t even attention, but there was some balance.

From the watch-through on Greatest Gen, it seems like Trip Tucker was one of the three main characters, Phlox was a constant presence even if rarely the main character, and then Mayweather and Hoshi got like one episode a season in which they were even involved.
